Sorting Challenge – Frozen vegetables (IQF or conventional)

Try to seperate wood and plastics in frozen vegetables that contain potatoes, leeks or any light colored vegetable !!
Not satisfied ? … "Time to try a Visys laser sorter !!"

The processing of frozen vegetables traditionally is a multi-step process resulting in mono (single-vegetable) or multi-mix (such as Asian mixes, minestrone mixes,…) vegetable output. Many processors swap output throughout the season and over time. The challenge of every processor is to purchase quality product and process it to market-standards. The aim is to deliver a uniform quality product that is free of damaged product and of foreign-bodies. In every step of the production process foreign bodies can obstruct the process or contaminate the output and hence impose serious threats to final product quality and safety. Processors who fail to deal with these threats suffer understandably loss of business or margins.

Visys offers state-of-the-art solutions through its laser sorter range. Our laser sorters can remove unwanted product from your frozen vegetables based on combined color, (bio)structure and shape based on the general principles of reflection and fluorescence. Our systems are fully digital and hence deliver state-of-the-art defect efficiency associated with the LOWEST false reject.

Color sorters and conventional laser sorters are unable to deal with the complexity of combined color, (bio)structure and shape for a number of reasons:

  • Frozen vegetables can have many different and small defects which can be product specific (like stems, sticks, embedded stems, blemishes, damaged products, immature, rotten...) or environment related (like insects, reptiles, stones, wood, pallet-wood, glass, plastics and many other foreign bodies) and who fall within the color limits of your good product (accept).
  • The current trend in the frozen vegetables industry is mixed produce to the loss of mono-products. This trend is driven by the consumer convenience aspect , but also from the economic added value for the processors. Color sorters cannot deal with a large color pallet.
  • Conventional analogue laser sorters are not capable of dealing with too many complex signals as they are limited in sensors and have a substantial data-loss due to a high signal-to-noise ratio. They also provide high levels of false reject (good product in the reject).
  • Detecting all wood and plastics on vegetables that contain potatoes, leeks or any light colored vegetable, is impossible with other electronic sorting equipment.

Sorting on biostructure, by means of digital laser technology, combined with a clever easy-interchangeable mechanical design is THE solution for all frozen vegetables. Visys NV offers you a state-of-the-art solution with the Chycane-slide featured laser sorters the THE SPYDER and the THE LYNX allowing color, (bio)structure and shape sorting in one product pass reducing false reject, spoilage and damage by over-manipulation.

Visys understands what drives frozen food processors, hence our solutions are designed with simplicity and low maintenance in mind. We keep your laser sorter affordable, and offer so an even faster return on your investment
